Tori Amos Painting

Tori Amos has always inspired me in many ways, when I was younger her music helped me conquer many hard times during my life when music seemed to be my only friend many times. I concur with many of her ideas, beliefs and vibes. As much influence as she has had through her art I painted a painting of her as a expression of how I see her. This was a very fun and lively piece to create, Im not in favor of realism and not altogether great at realism but Im rather pleased with this expression of Tori.

The 2012 Winter Solstice is upon us, we are already within the grand shift but from here on out it will only accelerate. As we move from the material , solid, world we merge towards a liquid, spiritual lighter and brighter age.

Winter Snow Queen, she is not the most beautiful of women figures but it represents the Winter Season.

As Winter is upon us here in the dismal midwest, often times once the season hits I feel connected to the season its self.
Its cold grey, dark and sleepy. Time for me to curl up into my bed and snuggle into a good book a cup of tea and wait for spring. Its rather too bad  that we cant just sleep the entire season!

I painted this for my loved dear Grandmother when she was in the hospital. Guardian angel full of guiding light and love. She holds the strength,faith and hope when we are unable to do this ourselves. Call to your Guardian Angel when you feel weak and in need. We are always being watched and looked after, just take the time to remember and feel the divine presence in our lives.

Irish Celtic Goddess Brighid

As the Pagan in me runs wild and deep this Goddes has always been close to my heart and soul.
For the past few years I have really fell in love with the Folk Art style it can be quite primitive yet intriguing.
As I have almost always nearly rejected the idea of taking up realism, as I live in a "real" world I do all I can to escape and transcend this, especially through creating Art that is a expression of the human experience that includes dreams,visions,hopes,fears and aspirations of a transcendental stellar soul

Stories and symbology that survive in the persona of Saint Brigid may be related. St. Brigid was associated with perpetual, sacred flames, such as the one maintained by 19 nuns at her sanctuary in Kildare, Ireland.
The tradition of female priestesses tending sacred, naturally-occurring "eternal flames" is a feature of ancient Indo-European pre-Christian spirituality. Other examples include the Roman goddessVesta, and other hearth-goddesses, such as Hestia.
Brighid was also connected to holy wells, at Kildare and many other sites in the Celtic lands. Well dressing, the tying of clooties to the trees next to healing wells, and other methods of petitioning or honoring Brighid still take place in some of the Celtic lands and the diaspora.- Via Wiki

After 4 cross country and over the sea moves this last year, yet another new studio in its infancy. 

I have so many new ideas and approaches its a flood of creative impulse.

Following this impulse is the key, sometimes we do what is safe and stuff we have done

and mastered but sometimes the exciting path of newness it just what we need.

My life has been super busy with travel,moving and everyday adventures that have taken me far away from the computer and creative ventures.

New Styles of Art Emerging

I find it thrilling as well as a bit scary when I have not painted in a while sure to life around me not allowing me the time but afterwards the new emergence of art that comes through after a long break like this.

It feels somewhat hard to let go of where i felt i was and where i seem to be. Art teaches us so much about ourselves that this in its self a miraculous thing. Letting go enough to be here now right where your at with everything the way it stands with out taking or adding a thing.

So much seems to be surfacing, a new style new attraction to certain colors and a new application process.
Its thrilling to start fresh and a new but also a bit scary taking a step over the edge off of what once was comfortable and familiar to a unknown territory.

Acceptance with grace rather than fighting it....Its a new day

So much has happened in the last 6 months that i have not been able to post or able to do much creative work.
Im getting back on track after moving back to mainland USA,it was really consuming.
After having a baby and moving Im finally working on a new studio, revamping the loft for my new creative space!
Our new website will be launched soon... as well as a new series....
I have really missed working and cant wait to dive back in...

This year was full of sweet surprises and bitter experiences that both combined are

The perfect mixture to a balanced and fruitful year.

This new year is coming fast , as today is the last day of 2010.I know that New Years may mean nothing to some folks

But to others like myself it’s a chance to separate from the past and it feels as if you are starting over.

A New year a new chance to change and make your life the way you wish it to be.

For reality is shapeable and moldable by our thoughts, deeds, words and actions.

The only way we can help pour world through this current mess is to respect ,love and care for eacho other, stranger or friend alike.

May we all have a blessed new year of 2011!

This Yule season has been warm and inviting with friends and family. Not much time has been devoted to creating art right now. During the second big move this year my Studio is still packed away in boxes awaiting to be filed on shelves and wicker bins.

A new studio is what Im looking forward to.

 Its hard when all your creative tools are packed away in boxes as personally it feels that you are the same, living in a small box awaiting the escape.

Looking into creative solutions to my never ending creative messes I find myself making.

This winter has just started for me, taking a journey across the ocean from Tropical Climate to a snowy winterland. I never knew how much i missed winter or enjoyed it until it was gone.

The silver glow, the soft gentleness of winter.

All year cant be all sunshine and warmth as it doesnt not even go with our natural ebb and flow and cycles that we are attuned to the earth and nature.

Sometimes we just feel greyness a tiredness from the busy year that is no close to being behind us.

Winter is a time of rest and reflection.

The Holiday season is coming up quick on us all and due to the economy  setbacks given to us by our government failing to protect us from this type of failure we are all saving a bit more and trying allot harder to make ends meet.

Although this is an inevitable truth the Holidays are not all about gifts and things, but family and spending quality time with the ones we love , all nestled inside a warm cozy home.

Through these harder times we learn many more lessons about thankfulness,family,love and appreciation towards what we do have.

Sacred Muse The Process

As i look at my desk  it is full of half painted paintings and sketches yet to be something.
I have alot of ideas on what i thought i wanted to paint but when i sit down to do the work , im frozen.
Im starting to realize that I was beginning to take my art in a direction that doesnt nourish or convey what it is im experiencing or seeking to experience.
So then when i sit down and let it come to me naturally not pushing the circuit and just being in the flow this is when the Magic happens.
Its really nothing i dont already know but sometimes we artists must make things that we are asked to create which is a wonderful feeling but when its all done its good to go back to the real flow of our true work.

Getting back to my natural flow of creativity.

I dont paint reality, realism a structured reality close to what we already experience on a day to day basis.
When we open our eyes in the morning we see this"reality" and we live it.
All to different degrees but I cant paint this realism, its not that i cant, my self wont let me, if thats understood?

There are so many worlds lost and magic forgotten due to this.
SO many place to be brought back to life, the world of myth and magic.
Where all things are possible,bright, beautiful and mystical and above all meaningful.
Thats the problem with the world, we have lost what is meaningful and choose to fill our lives and world with meaningless notions,ideas,dogma and work.
This is what i crave....I dont know about you ?
